Welcome to You Ask Andy

Ross Diamond, age 14, of Prescott, Ariz., for his question:

CAN A PERSON DEVELOP ESP?

ESP, or extra sensory perception, is something that you.cannot develop. Some say that you either have it or you don't. And, as a matter of fact, the evidence shows that most likely ESP doesn't even exist.

If ESP does exist, as some people who consider themselves experts insist, the way it works is unknown. And there it’s certainly nothing that a person can do to develop it.

About 10 percent of the psychologists today believe that ESP is a fact and that it does exist while another 10 percent are sure that there is absolutely nothing to it. Most of the remaining 80 percent choose not to discuss the subject, feeling that a great deal of additional research must be done before they will vote one way or the other.

The debate will continue for a long time to come. But in the meantime, there doesn't seem to be anything that a person can do to develop ESP.
