WHAT CAUSES ECZEMA?
Eczema is a chronic form of dermatitis or inflammation of the skin. Doctors tell us that eczema is usually a form of allergy that results from extreme sensitivity to some substance. The substance may be in something the person eats or it many be found in his surroundings.
With eczema, the skin becomes red and fluid filled pimples called vesicles may form. Or sometimes crusts and scales may develop on the skin surface
Usually the skin itches. Tf the person scratches, he destroys the pimples or removes the crust and scales, and, the appearance of the area changes.
Certain substances given off by plants also may cause eczema.
A person may not develop eczema unless he has been repeatedly exposed to a substance. But once he develops the allergy cure is difficult so long as he is exposed.
Doctors test the sensitivity of persons to various substances to find the exact cause of eczema. Treatment usually involves the removal of the cause.
