Welcome to You Ask Andy

Alan Medina, age 14, of Casper, Wyo., for his question:

HOW MANY DARTS ARE USED ON A DART BOARD?

In a regulation game of darts, first one player is allowed to throw three darts at the dart board. This is followed by the second player tossing three darts.

The game of darts is popular in the United States and Canada, but the game is almost an obsession with Englishmen in pubs or taverns in Great Britain. The game has been popular for hundreds of years.

Each dart is an arrow like missile about six inches long with a long steel tip on one end and feathers on the other. Players stand nine feet back from a round, cork dart board that is mounted on the wall. Concentric rings on the dart board are divided into sections that have different colors and different point values. The center circle is called the bull's eye and a dart here gives the player a higher score than a dart that lands near the edge.

Darts is an indoor game that requires a keen eye and a lot of accuracy.
