0. Henry was the pen name of a fine American story writer named William Sydney Porter. He became famous during his lifetime, which ran from 1862 until 1910, for about 250 works of fiction. He was a master of developing fine plots which built up to sharp, unexpected endings. Most of his stories have been printed. Many reflected on his own colorful experiences.
O. Henry for a time was a newspaper columnist. In 1894 he bought a paper which he renamed The Rolling Stone. One of O.Henry's most famous stories is called "The Gift of the Magi."
