Grover Peters, age 8, of Gadsden, Ala., for his question:
WHERE CAN YOU FIND A DINGO?
A dingo is a wild dog. It can be found only in Australia.
Scientists tell us that prehistoric men most likely brought the first dingos with them when they sailed to the Down Under continent.
Dingos are medium sized, with bushy tails, erect ears and alert faces. They range in color from yellowish brown to black. They rarely bark but howl instead.
If caught as puppies, dingos make good pets. In fact, some kennels breed dingos for this purpose.
Dingos hunt alone or in family groups. Their chief food is the wallaby, a small kangaroo. They also kill young sheep sometimes and thus are regarded as a pest.
