Welcome to You Ask Andy

CAN MAN LIVE ON SEA WATER?

Man cannot live on sea water. This is because sea water contains, on the average, about 3.5 percent salts, which are not good to drink. These salts can increase thirst and make a person very ill.

About 65 percent of your body is made up of water. You could live without food for perhaps a month, but you couldn't live without freshwater for a week.

If your body loses more than 20 percent of its normal water content, you will die painfully.

To maintain a balance, you should drink about two and a half quarts  of water each day. This water can be taken in the form of various beverages or in the food you eat.
