There are several championship flight classes in the bird world, The great albatross starts to travel soon after he learns to fly and spends the rest of his life soaring over the wide oceans of the world  He covers thousands of miles a year and touches land only to nest  The champion in proportion to his size is the busy humming bird  Every year, many of these midgets fly 500 miles non‑stop back and forth across the Gulf of Mexico 

The champion of the long distance migrating birds is most likely the Arctic tern  This dainty bird builds his nest inside the Arctic Circle and sets off with his charming family to spend the winter in or near the Antarctic Circle, What’s more, he does not take the shortest route  It is estimated that the Arctic tern flies about 20,000 miles a year migrating between his summer and his winter homes
