Where did melons originate?

The foods on our daily diet have been gathered together from all over the world. Corn and potatoes, chocolate and vanilla are natives of the New World, Many of our vegetables, cereals and fruits got their start in Europe and Asia,

Spinach is a native of Asia Minor. Most of the melons are also natives of this warm region of the world. The delicious casaba, melon was originally grown near Kasaba in Asia Minor. The cantaloupe was first grown near Cantalupo in Italy, Muskmelons and watermelons were being cultivated in the warm regions of Europe. Africa and Asia thousands of years ago.
