How long is the Alaskan Highway?
This famous road is Alaska’s only land connection with her sister states to the south. It runs southwest from Fairbanks in the heart of Alaska, linking up with branch roads on its way to Canada On it runs to Dawson Creek, B.C. where it links with the vast road systems of Canada and the United States. The Alaskan Highway is 1,528 miles long and 1,221 of these miles are across Canada,
Some stretches of the great highway are paved, but most of it is surfaced with gravel. It is open throughout the year but the best travel months are summer and early fall. The temperatures are then mild and warm and the traveler can enjoy the splendid mountain scenery.
