Where did the Indians come from?
When we go on a long journey we take a plane or a train, a bus or a car and we sail the oceans in giant ships. But our ancestors were traveling long journeys long before any of these things were invented. , Mankind was a nomad, a traveler over the face of the earth long before the dawn of history. He traveled to find food, better climates, pleasant places to settle and also out of plain curiosity.
The original settlers of America are thought to have come from Asia thousands of years before the dawn of history. They may have crossed near the Bering Strait and then wandered all the way down the continent in easy stages. In any case, they did not all come at once. Most likely they came in small bands, unknown to each other, and wandered in different directions all over the land. When Columbus found the New World, he thought he had discovered India and he called the original Americans Indians.
