Where is Baja California?

Baba California, which means Lower California, is a Mexican state. It is the long finger of land which daps south from our state of California on the west coast. It is separated from the mainland of Mexico by the long! thin Gulf of California.

Most of Southern California is dry, hot, mountain studded desert. It is about 750 miles 1ong and its width varies from 30 to 150 miles. Altogether, it supports about 300,000 people. On the Gulf shore, they engage in fishing and pearl diving. There is some farming, especially in the south. But the mining possibilities of the area remain mostly undeveloped.
