David Newell, age 9s of Fisher, Ill for his question
Is Greenwich the same as Greenwich Village?
Turn to the index section of any big atlas. You will find no less than nine different places named Greenwich, but not one of them is called Greenwich Village. There Is a Greenwich in Scotland, in Connecticut, in Utah, in Kansas, in New Jersey and in Ohio. If you study a detailed map of London, England, you will find still another Greenwich. This is the suburb of London from where we mark the Prime Meridian. A detailed map of Manhattan Island may show that Greenwich Village is part of New York City.
You will also find that there are ten places named Peoria in the United States and one in Canada. But, says Andy these things need not confuse us at all. When you write an address, make sure that the place name is , followed by the name of the state, province or country. Then you can be sure that a letter meant for Greenwich, Kansas, will not travel a1l the way to Greenwich Scotland..
