Davy Crockett of Tennessee often went into the wilderness alone. He was a frontiersman, well able to take care of himself. During his adventurous life he met many Indians and some of them became his trusted and valuable friends, Davy gave his life for the freedom of our country, but he was not killed by Indians.
For a time, David Crockett served his state in Congress, In 1834 he wrote his autobiography and after its publication he set out for more adventures, He went to Texas, which was then feeling the cruelty of Mexican rule, On February 23, 1836, Crockett was among the brave men defending San Antonio. On March 6 he was massacred. with his comrades when the Alamo fell to the Mexican general Santa Anna.
