Does it ever snow at the equator?
At the equator, the nights are quite a bit cooler than the days, though there is not much difference between winter and summer. But everywhere in the world, the weather is cooler in the highlands than in the lowlands. This is why we go to the mountains to cool off in the heat of the summer. We also go to the mountains for winter sports, for here the weather is colder and the snow is deeper.
The people who live on the lowlands and plains along the equator enjoy warm days throughout the year. But there are mountains on and near the equator and here, high above the level of the sea, the weather is always cold. Snow falls instead of rain and several high peaks on or near the equator in Africa and South America wear snowy crowns the whole year long.
