Each element burns with its own particular color and all the elements in the sun are in the form of blazing gases. If we can identify the color of a burning gas, we have its signature. The gases of the sun are identified by an instrument called a spectroscope which is distantly related to the glass prism which gives us the rainbow .colored spectrum.
The burning gas of each element in the sun makes its own mark on the spectrum and its signature can be identified from photographs taken by the spectroscope. By this method, most of the elements on earth have been discovered in the sun and the element helium was discovered in the sun bbfore we knew it existed on the earth.
