Welcome to You Ask Andy

Many people think that there is room for improvement in our calendar. After all, it was arranged in the year 1582 and we have learned a great deal since that time. Someday we may get a simplified, streamlined calendar which is more workable than our ancient model, However, as far as accuracy goes, our old calendar is not very far wrong,

It is estimated that our calendar is accurate to within one day in 4,000 years. It is based, of course, on the movements of the earth around the sun and if we stick with it for some 3,500 more years we shall have to adjust it one day or be out of step.
