There is almost always some shade of green in the glimmering lights of the aurora. Sometimes when the display is pale, the hazy draperies and pointing rays of the Northern Lights seem to b6 a milky color, but a closer look shows that they are tinged with green. In the more vivid displays, the whole sky may be draped with shimmering curtains of bright apple green.
In polar regions, where the aurora is at its best, there may be tinges of violet and lavender among the green hues and sometimes the polar aurora forms a huge arch with rosy rays fingering out far across the sky.
