A large percentage of the world's water is frozen solid in the polar glaciers which are remnants of the last Ice Age. And the world climate is getting warmer. Slowly these glaciers are melting and dumping their water into the world ocean. It is now estimated that they are melting fast enough to raise the sea level one inch in eight years.
If all the polar ice melted, the ocean level could rise more than one hundred feet, The melted water from Antarctica t s ice alone would drown our nation's capitol and reach 184 feet up the tall Washington monument. Not only would the ocean water move inland and cover many of our seaside cities the earth’s climate would also change dramatically. We would have a much warmer planet.
