Its borders have no cliffs or beaches, no land of any kind. For the Sargasso is a sea surrounded by ocean. It is a stretch of calm water inside the swirling Gulf Stream which eddies around the North Atlantic. You may not find it on a map, but a map of the North Atlantic will help you locate it.
Find the lines of latitude running east and west and the lines of longitude running north and south. Note the area between latitudes 20 and 40 and longitudes 35 and 75. The wide, oval Sargasso Sea, almost a quarter the size of North America, lies roughly within this area.
