Which is the head end of a worm?
Mr. Pinky crawls along head first, with his tail end following along behind him. So, if you put him on the ground and wait for him to crawl home, you can see which end is his head. However, if he is a captive in a jar he wriggles around in all directions. You cannot see which way he is going or which end is his head unless you know what to look for.
His body is a long, round tube, ringed with segments and slightly tapered at both ends. If you look carefully, you will see that one end Is a little more pointed than the other. This is the earthworm's tail. The other end is his head and it is a little more blunt and flat than the tail end.
