Welcome to You Ask Andy

Our home in the heavens is a system of stars called the Galaxy which we can glimpse dimly in the night sky as the Milky Way; The vast system is somewhat like a wheel with spiraling arms   and like a wheel, around and around it turns. The rim of the wheel turns faster than the hub, just like a cartwheel, and our cozy Solar System is about two thirds of the distance from the center towards the rim.

Our sun with its family of planets must therefore travel fast to keep its place in the whirling wheel, it is estimated that we are traveling our orbit through the Galaxy at about 100,000 miles an hour. A complete revolution of the entire Galaxy often is called a cosmic year   and one cosmic`yoar is estimated to equal about 200,000 million earth years,
