Who invented the game of chess"?

One story suggests that chess was invented to solve a cold war situation in the ancient world. The wonderful game is a miniature war. The moves are sample enough for a child to learn and complex enough to fascinate the most brilliant minds. The game may have been invented by a far eastern monarch who wanted to keep his generals occupied with a war game, instead of actual warfare.

Some people say that the ancient Persians invented chess, some say it was the Egyptians and some say that; the wonderful game was invented in India. The game was played in all these countries, but we do not know for sure who actually invented it.
