Where is the nearest star?
Strictly speaking, of course, the nearest star to us rises each morning and spends each day marching with dazzling radiance over our skies. For Old Sol is a star. Among the faraway night twinklers, the nearest ones to us are in Centaurus, a constellation of the Southern Hemisphere.
Our nearest neighbor is one of a system of three stars, A double star of two bright beauties orbiting around each other is called Alpha Centauri, and is often given credit for being the star nearest to us. A smaller star, however, travels in a wide orbit around this double star and most experts rate this one as our nearest neighbor. Its name is Proxima.,,
