Where do the Malagasy people live?

The Germans live in Germany and the French live in France. As a rule, you can guess the name of a country from the name we give to the people who live there. But not always. Holland is the homeland of the Dutch people. Your gift atlas will tell you that there is a province named Malaga in southern Spain. But this is not the homeland of the Malagasy people.

The homeland of the Malagasy is a small island on the other side of the world. You will find it in the Indian Ocean off the east coast of Africa. It is the island of Madagascar, homeland of the Malagasy people who speak their own Malagasy language.
