Was there ever a continent between Europe and North America?
The old earth has been changing her face for some four billion years. The seas have washed over the continents and gone back to their deep basins many times. Some experts believe that the continents were once much closer together and in the remote past America may have been joined to Africa. There is also a great Ridge of mountains on the floor of the Atlantic Ocean and in some places their peaks poke above the surface and become islands.
Some people use these known facts to build up a story about a lost continent which sank below the waves of the Atlantic Ocean. Sensible experts tell us that this is not likely, in fact, some experts say that this was absolutely impossible. Certain Atlantic islands may have been swamps in the remote past, but there never was a continent between the Old World and the New.
