How does a starfish eat?
This little fellow has a mouth and a stomach, but he has a most unusual way of using them. Most animals eat as we do, they put the food into the mouth and let it pass down to the stomach for digestion. The starfish uses a shortcut and wraps his stomach directly around his dinner. He can do this trick because he has a reversible stomach.
His favorite dinner is an oyster,, and when he has pried open the shells he pokes his stomach out of his mouth and wraps it around the tender meat. He then reverses his reversible stomach and digests his dinner.
