James King, age 13, of Bridgeport, Conn., for his question:
Where is the source of the Nile river?
The ancient Egyptians were farming the muddy flatlands along the Nile at least 7000 Years ago. They knew that the great river started somewhere in the heart of Africa. Modern geographers know that the source of the Nile is somewhere near the Equator, but Even they cannot point to one spot as the birthplace of the great river.
The new born Nile is fed by streams and several lakes. One of these is Lake Victoria. Some geographers claim that the Nile begins with a stream, which spills from this lake over a waterfall. In any case, the waters of this region gather together and start their 4160-mile Journey to the sea.
