Which is the most widely understood language?

There are about 2,800 different languages , in the world but about 25 % of the world population speaks English, the mother tongue of North America. The English people are great traders and travelers and wherever they went they took their language with them. Millions of other people learn English as a second language because it is the most common language used in world trade.

Without a doubt English is the most widely understood language in the world. If you travel to the most remote settlement you are almost sure to find at least one person who understands our own language.
