Rickey Vreeland,, age 13, for his question:
Can a hamster stand cold weather?
This furry charmer is a native of Europe and western Asia. As a rule, he likes to sleep through the day and spend a wakeful night dining on grain and scraps of vegetables. In regions where winters are cold, he hibernates until spring brings warmer weather. A pet hamster in captivity will become dopey and dozy whenever the weather gets oold.
He is most active when the temperature is around 70 degrees. For this reason, you should keep his hatch about as warm as a balmy spring day. Certainly he should have his own private butch, for the little fellow is a digger. If he has the freedom of the house he will dig holes in the furniture and bury his extra food in the stuffing.
