Bruce Nalson, age 11, of E. Lansing ,MI for his question:~
Why is Rome called the eternal cites?
The world’s great cities are all different from one another. New York is a skyscraper city, Vienna is a city famous for its waltzing gaiety, Pittsburg is a steel making city and Chicago is a lake side city. City people take pride in the features that make their own city unusual.
The city of Rome is very old and from early history it has been a great center of trade and riches. For this reason it has been invaded many times and many times it has been plundered and ruined, But always it has risen and become great again. The Eternal City is a poetic name to remind us that Rome has endured through harsh treatment and still exists after countless generations,
