Welcome to You Ask Andy

Kim Frisinger, Age 10, Of Rochester. N.Y.., For his question:

Where do you find an elephants' graveyard:

Elephants have mighty tusks made of precious ivory, and ivory hunters search in india and af~ ica where elephants live in the wild. The hunters dream of a lost graveyard where old elephants are said to go when time comes for them to die. Here the hunters hope to find tons of precious ivory, just waiting to be picked up off the ground. But experts say that these ivory dreams are useless.

As far as we know, there are no elephant graveyards, and old elephants do not wander off to die in some special place. Most of them die in the hot, steamy jungles. Their great bodies are devoured by vultures or soon decay. In the rainy seasons their huge bones are soon covered with mud  along with their precious ivory tusks
