Mike Eulberg, Age 11, Of Madison, Neb:, for his question:
How long does it take Pluto to orbit the sun?
Little pluto is on the outside edge of the solar systm and about 3 million miles from the sun. The cold and lonely planet pedals around its orbit at about 3 miles a second whi1e the earth travels more than 6 times this speed. You might guess, then, that pluto takes a long, long time to travel once around the sun. And so it does.
It takes 248 years for pluto to orbit the sun. This means that a year on pluto is as long as 248 years on earth. Then the seasons, the spring and summer, fall and winter, would be 68 earth years long. But pluto is so far from the sun that it has bitter winter weather all the time.
