Cynthia Watson age 9, of Indianapolis, Ind., for her question:
How did the Indians discover America?
The original Americans came here thousands of years before Columbus was even born. They did not come from India. Most experts agree that they came from the part of Asia which is opposite Alaska on the other side of the pacific ocean.
Here the old world and the new world are separated only by the narrow Bering strait. But in the past.. There were times when the two land masses were joined by a stretch of dry land or ice. Experts think that the so called Indians traveled back and forth across this narrow bridge of land and some of them wandered on to discover and settle the Americas.
