Judy Knax, age 13, of Hastings, Ont., Canada, For her question:
Where does the Canada goose migrate?
At the present time, there is no shortage of these magnificent birds. Perhaps this is because they are such smart fellows, smart enough to be wary of the man with a gun. In summer, they spread from coast to coast across the northern half of North America. In winter, they spread out from coast to coast across the southern part of North America and much of Central America.
The dividing line between their winter and summer homes is about level with the southern tip of the Great Lakes. Spring and fall, the great big beauties set forth on their migration flights, flying in V formations and honking cheerfully as they go. They cruise at 20 to 45 piles an hour, and when in a hurry they can speed at 60 miles per hour.
