Dennis Robinson, Age 13 Of Dryden, Ont., Canada, for his question:
How many wonders are there in the modern world?
The people of the ancient world liked to travel, just as we do. The tourists, of course., wanted to make sure that they saw everything of note in the lands they visited. So a list of wonders was made into a kind of tourist's guide book the seven wonders of the ancient world.
Some peop1e have tried to compile such a list for our modern world. But there are so many wonders in every land that the list is never ending. We would have to include all the manmade wonders, such as bridges and railroads, dams and skyscrapers. And no sensible person would stop at these man made wonders. He would include the tall mountain peaks, the seas and the fertile plains. He would include every plant and animal. There are, of course, as many wonders in the world as there are things in the world.
