Is the equator ever cold?

The equator crosses lowlands and highlands. It strides ovsr high mountains and deep valleys. On the flat plains, the weather is always summery. But high up in the mountains, the weather is always wintery, even at the equator. In Africa, the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro is always covered with snow. It is near the equator, but here the weather is always cold.

In Equador, the town of Quito is on the equator and they have blustery spring weather with mild days and cold nights. Often a freezing wind whips through the streets.  Quito is high above sea level and around it the lofty peaks of the Andes ars crowned with eternal snows.
