Peter Van Orden, age i3, of Logan, Utah, For his question.
How did Rome get its name?
The people who live there call their city Roma and claim that it is named for Romulus,, who founded it. Romulus and his twin brother Remus lived so long ago that their story is clouded with mythology. According to legend, the babies were the sons of the war god Mars. They were put into a little basket and cast adrift in the roaring River Tiber.
Their little boat was washed ashore and the babies were adopted by a wolf, or so the story goes. Later, they agreed to build a city on the banks of the Tiber. But the twins quarreled and Remus was killed. The original city was built by Romulus in 53 B. C.
