Andre' Paul Limoges, age 7, of Sioux City, Ia., for his question:
When is the Harvest Moon?
The brightest full moon shines in September. Farmers of the Old World named it the Harvest Moon long ago. This big, bright September moon gave them enough light to gather in the sheaves after sunset.
The huge, golden Harvest Moon is the full moon which falls nearest to Sept. 23, the autumnal equinox, when the day and the night are both 12 hours long. The next full moon of the year is called the Hunter's Moon, when hunters may prowl after sunset, and it is almost as bright as the harvest Moon.
