How many colors are there in a rainbow?

The rainbow seems to be a rainy blur of reds and blues. Yet the experts tell us that there are seven bands of color in the glimmering arch. If you can remember the name of Roy G. Biv, you can remember the names of the seven basic rainbow colors. Use one litter in Roy's name for each color    red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.

These, however, are just the basic colors. Each band of color blends into the next through countless tints and tones. If We count all these between shades, the number of colors in the rainbow is past counting
