Do bald eagles return to the same nest?

Let's call him the American eag1e, for that is his name. What sometimes looks like a bald patch on the top of his handsome head is actually a cap of snow white feathers, and the splendid bird is not bald at all. Since 1782, of course, the American eagle has been our national emblem.

Mr. And Mrs. American eagle are fishermen, and their nest is on a cliff or in a lofty tree giving a wide view of the shores or rivers, lakes or marshes in all directions. The great birds migrate only when the water freezes. But every spring the same couple returns to the same nest. It is a bulky dwelling made of dead branches and lined with leaves and grasses. Every spring new branches and a new lining are added. Through the years it grows from three to perhaps eight feet wide, and it may become heavy enough to topple the tree on which it is perched.
