Michael Gammache, age 10, of Lancaster, Pa., for his question:
Which is our biggest National Park?
Our largest is Yellowstone National Park, and it also is our oldest. It was set aside for us many years ago in the year 1872. Our biggest and oldest national park fills a huge area in the northwest corner of Wyoming and parts of it reach into Idaho and Montana. It covers an area of 3,471 square miles.
Big old Yellowstone is a beauty and full of surprises. It has snowcaps and waterfalls, hot springs and geysers. It has camping grounds for our enjoyment, and the law protects all its wild creatures from human harm.
