Bobby Nash, age 9, of Westport, Connecticut, for his question:
Was there ever a real unicorn?
In olden days, just about everybody was certain that the unicorn was a real animal. Nobody ever saw one, but people explained exactly what he looked like. He was, they said, a lovely white horse with one long horn 6n the end of his nose. Even though he was never seen, everybody agreed on how he looked. And artists made plenty of pictures of him.
But, sad to say, none of these fanciful reports were true. Modern scientists tell us that he was an imaginary animal. People believed in him because everybody else did. But actually the unicorn never was a real animal.
