Welcome to You Ask Andy

Amelia Totty, age 11, of Tenn  ,

The earth is a round ball more or lass  For a long time it was known that its diameter through the equator is a little longer than its diameter through the poles  Lately, the scientists have found a few more irregularities‑that change the world from a perfect globe  These variations, however are so slight that they would not be represented on your gift globes which is a small scale model of the round earth  Also when seen say, from the moon, the earth looks like a perfectly round ball

Actually, the scientists tell us, the earth is slightly pear  shaped bulging with land masses in the northern hemisphere and tapering very very slightly through the watery southern hemisphere, Some say our globe vaguely resembles a tetrahedron a four‑sided figure made from triangles  The triangles area of course, very irregular and the face of each one bulges outward with a great land mass
