Where does the agouti live?

The agouti is a native of the New World$ though we do not see him outside of a zoo.’ His favorite haunts begin way down in southern Mexico and extend into South America, He is also found in the West Indies, The agouti feeds on vegetation and enjoys life in the lush, warm tropical forests of the New World,

Imagine a bunny with short round ears and rather long legs. This is the agouti, When he runs he looks somewhat like a miniature deer  and he often has to run for his life. His tender white flesh is very tasty and he is hunted by man, by jaguars and by mountain lions.
