Welcome to You Ask Andy

Larry Moran  age 12, of Seattle, Wash  for his question:

How many shooting stars fall in a year?

If you are a very alert sky watcher, you can spot about ten shooting stars in an average hour, But you will miss countless more which are too sma_~  1 to be seen  Watchers around the entire globe could spot 24 million shooting stars in about 24 hours  They would fail to notice countless million others

This tots up to about eight thousand million visible shooting stars in an average year, plus untold billions which escape detection.
